10 arrested at Sarpy County AirBnB after authorities break up house party of 175 people

SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (WOWT) – A disturbance call at a Sarpy County Airbnb early Sunday ended with 10 people arrested, including several known gang members.

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office tells 6 News deputies responded to the area of 189th and Briar streets shortly before 1 a.m. for a complaint of a loud party at a residence; the caller indicated the possibility of underage drinking. The residence showed a history of being used as an Airbnb property.

Deputies arrived to find a crowd of around 125 people, mostly young adults estimated between ages 18 and 25. A male ran from the location; he was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit on weapons charges. As he was being detained, the sheriff’s office says a crowd surrounded the deputies. A “help an officer” call went out and the scene was quickly controlled.

Upon further investigation, deputies learned about 50 more people were inside the home and possessed guns and drugs. The Sarpy SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were called in and assisted in a controlled release of the remaining parties.

Four handguns were located and seized. SCSO says no one involved in the incident was a Sarpy County resident.

Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, empty alcohol bottles, and an additional handgun were found inside the home. The short-term renter of the home, identified as Nyamuon Puol, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Brelin Lewis was booked for illegally possessing a handgun, obstruction, and resisting arrest. Wal Chuol and Marquez Lumpkin-Cokes were both booked on a concealed carry violation-failure to inform and for marijuana possession.

Six others were taken in on outstanding warrants.

About 50 officers responded to assist SCSO at the scene, including personnel from the Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista and Omaha police departments, along with the Nebraska State Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Airbnb released a statement to 6 News about the incident and investigation:

“Airbnb bans disruptive and unauthorized parties, and the reported behavior has no place on our platform. Our specialized Safety team immediately removed the booking guest from Airbnb and we stand ready to assist the (Sarpy) County’s Sheriff’s Office as they investigate.”

Airbnb says it has deactivated the listing as the investigation continues.
