Gene Simmons expands crypto portfolio by purchasing XRP and DOGE

Gene Klein, professionally known as Gene Simmons, has just expanded his crypto investment. Simmons, a rock and roll legend that acts as Kiss’ frontman, unveiled this news through a tweet on February 1. In his tweet, the star noted that he had purchased XRP (XRP) and Dogecoin (DOGE). However, he was quick to note that he had simply invested in the coins and that he was not recommending them to any of his 898,600 followers.

While he made sure to notify his followers of his XRP and DOGE purchase, he did not disclose how much he had invested.

In a prior tweet, Simmons noted that he had also purchased or is planning to buy leading cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin (BTC), among others.

A long-standing crypto enthusiast

While this is the first open declaration of making a crypto investment, Simmons has been a crypto fan for at least three years. In 2017, he tweeted a cryptic message about BTC while airing his views in a discussion on making BTC and ETH easily accessible to the general public.

Cameron Winklevoss, Gemini’s co-founder, started the thread by saying that while technology will not eliminate racism, it can get rid of bias in some interactions. He went on to explain that that was why he loves BTC because it is permissionless and unbiased. He, however, admitted that it was easier to buy Bitcoin and Ether if someone had a bank account. Cameron added that it was harder to purchase crypto if someone did not have a bank account, recommending that the crypto-verse should work on changing this requirement.

Responding to Cameron, Simmons tweeted, “I will. I am.”

Apart from this, Simmons also went on an interview where he noted that he was interested in BTC, but only as a piece of his investment.
