Donald Trump’s NFT’s plunged in value in just seven days, with around 70 percent of their value lost. On December 15, the former President released 45,000 “Trump Digital Trading Cards”, retailing at $99 each, with all of them being sold out within hours.

Ahead of their release, Mr Trump urged his supporters to buy the digital cards, which he described as “very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting.”

“Would make a great Christmas gift. Don’t Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly,” he wrote on Truth Social.

The money from the sale of the NFTs will not be used for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, according to the Donald Trump Digital Trading Card website.

“These Digital Trading Cards are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign,” it said.

“NFT INT LLC is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Digital LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates.”

Steve Bannon, who was previously an adviser to Mr Trump, lambasted the former President for his “major announcement”.

In an episode of his War Room podcast, he said he “can’t do this anymore”, and called for those behind the announcement to be “fired today”.

“He’s one of the greatest presidents in history, but I gotta tell you, whoever … business partner [or] anybody on the comms team and anybody at Mar-a-Lago … and I love the folks down there, but we’re at war—they ought to be fired today”, Mr Bannon said.

“And hey, you don’t have three [bigger supporters] than Cortes, Bannon and Seb Gorka.

“And we’re getting blown up all day on this.”

It comes after Mr Trump lambasted the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, after they recommended the Justice Department pursue criminal charges against the former President.

“These are sick people”, he said in a Truth Social video clip.

“These are Marxists. And they’re very dangerous and very bad people.”

He also said in the video that “the events of January 6 were not an insurrection”, insisting they were instead “a protest that got tragically out of control.”

He said the committee “did not produce a single shred of evidence that I in any way intended or wanted violence at our Capitol”, and claimed it does “not exist because the claim is baseless and a monstrous lie”.

The committee said that its conclusion was that “the central cause of January 6th was one man, former President Donald Trump, whom many others followed”.

“None of the events of January 6th would have happened without him,” they added.
