New owners plan a complete makeover of Marriott hotel in Westlake

A North Texas hotel firm is growing again with the purchase of a Westlake property.

Grapevine-based NewcrestImage LLC partnered with local investor Dabu Group to acquire the Marriott Dallas/Fort Worth Westlake. The 294-room hotel is on State Highway 114 in the Solana development.

The new owners plan a complete makeover of the hotel, which dates to the 1980s.

“This deal represents a very attractive opportunity to join with a strong investment partner in acquiring a property that boasts strong rate performance and is strategically located in an active market,” Mehul Patel, managing partner and CEO of NewcrestImage, said in a statement.

The Westlake Marriott was one of the original buildings in the Solana mixed-use development in Westlake and Southlake. The hotel was designed by award-winning Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.

Newmark Lodging Capital Markets’ Miles Spencer and Parker Sherrill arranged the sale of the property, which is between DFW International Airport and the AllianceTexas development in North Fort Worth.

NewcrestImage owns more than 70 U.S. hotels with almost 8,000 rooms. The company was founded in 2013 and has recently announced acquisition and development deals.

The hotel firm formed a partnership with Dallas’ Coury Hospitality to develop new hotels and last year acquired 45 hotels with 3,300 rooms from a private equity firm.

Since 2021, NewcrestImage has owned downtown Dallas’ landmark Magnolia Hotel.
