The trend of recurrent cyber exploits on blockchain firms is not slowing down, especially this month. BitKeep Swap, a Web3 multi-chain wallet, is the latest target of bad actors in the crypto industry.
The firm announced that its official wallet was exploited with over $1 million in damage via the BNB Chain early today. Its development team has taken immediate action to forestall further hazards to the company’s assets.

The Web3 wallet has consequently suspended its services “to ensure that there are no other asset security issues.” Additionally, the firm will communicate and cooperate with security agencies to track down the hackers to recover the stolen assets.
Notably, BitKeep Swap has promised to reimburse affected users 100% of their lost funds and encouraged people who can assist in identifying the hackers and recovering the stolen assets to contact them.
According to MistTrack, a monitoring crypto security firm, Bitkeep Swap attackers have moved the stolen 4,300 BNB (approximately $1.18 million) to the mixer, Tornado Cash.

This new development further confirms the report by Chainalysis that October is the biggest month of hacking activities in 2022. The analytics firm said it had tracked over $718 million worth of crypto lost in DeFi protocols via 11 different hacks this month alone.
According to the graph by Chainalysis, March 2022 was previously the month with the highest hack records, with an estimated loss of $700 million. But the new $1 million lost in BitKeep Swap will significantly push October ahead.
