Former SEC Crypto Regulation Expert Scott Walker Joins AnChain.AI as Strategic Advisor – NFT News and Insights from the Ecosystem

AnChain.AI, a digital asset risk management and Web3 intelligence firm, today announced that Scott Walker, a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regulation expert, has joined the company strategic advisor.

Walker brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in both traditional and digital financial regulation, as well as balancing the rapid growth of the crypto market with deft regulatory policy. Along with his role as AnChain.AI’s strategic advisor, he is also a chief compliance officer at a16z.

Prior to his role at a16z, Walker served as senior special examiner and counsel for digital assets & blockchain technology at the U.S. SEC. During his time there, he led the division’s work which included the surveillance of crypto markets, and the engagement of entities offering digital asset services.

In addition to his work as a regulator, Walker served as vice president & counsel at investment company, BlackRock, with a focus on hedge fund regulation, derivatives, and prime brokerage. 

In his new role, Walker will advise on AnChain.AI’s Web3 risk monitoring technology, which is leading financial regulators and is poised to continue enabling the secure growth of the cryptocurrency, DeFi, and NFT ecosystem as it faces greater regulatory scrutiny.

Founded and founded in 2018 by cybersecurity and enterprise software veterans from FireEye and Mandiant, Victor Fang and Ben Wu, AnChain.AI is an AI-powered cybersecurity company enhancing blockchain security, risk, and compliance strategies.

The company raised $10 million in a funding round last September and won a multi-year SEC contract to provide a platform for deep analysis and tracing of smart contracts to support the SEC’s ongoing efforts to monitor risk, improve compliance and inform commission policy on digital assets and cryptocurrencies.

Last week, AnChain.AI launched a new professional certification program learning centre to bring its investigative expertise to industry professionals at all levels of cryptocurrency exposure.

The curriculum builds upon a foundation established by the AnChain.AI team’s track record of Web3 security thought leadership and advocacy, including guest lectures and training sessions delivered to government regulators, policymakers, and top universities including Harvard and UC Berkeley.
