Interac voted most respected tech service provider: survey

Interac is the most respected technology service provider, according to an annual survey.

The national survey of 4,550 Canadians, conducted by Maru Public Opinion as part of the Canada’s Most Respected Awards Program, found that Interac was the most respected technology service provider for the second year in a row, followed by Google. YouTube came in as the third most respected company, up two spots from last year, while Amazon improved its position from sixth last year to fourth in 2022.

Some companies saw their rankings drop compared to last year. Netflix was the fifth most respected company, down from its third position last year. PayPal also dropped two spots to sixth, while Disney+ slipped one spot to seventh.

Bing, a search engine owned by Microsoft, was at the bottom of the list of 12 companies, below Shopify (11th) and eBay (10th).

“Corporate respect is a hard-earned public measure that goes well beyond trust, good products, and responsible corporate citizenship,” Jeff Munn, the executive director of the CMR program, said in a statement.

“Each one of these top-ranked companies have managed to deliver the best attributes and behaviours the public deems important within this sector.”

Interac, Canada’s leading payment services provider, said in October that it is on track to surpass 100 million transactions in 2022. The company has nearly 300 financial institutions connected to its network, and Canadians use Interac products more than 20 million times a day on average to exchange money.

The survey of 4,550 Canadians was conducted in October. Responses were weighted to match the population according to the most recent census data. Due to the scoring formula, there is no margin of error.
