These altcoins are noteworthy because they are all in the top 100 on Coin Market Cap, under 25 cents, and most have a purpose and significant following.
Whether or not these altcoins have a defined purpose or they’re a meme coin, is irrelevant in this context. I am not saying you should marry these coins.
I’ve written about DOGE several times. It does have a simple utility; you can use it to buy products and services just as you would a dollar at nearly a dozen venues, including buying dog food at Petco and game tickets for the Dallas Mavericks.
DOGE Is Currently Ranked #8 on Coin Market Cap
Let’s discuss DOGE first and get it out of the way. I own DOGE, but I wouldn’t recommend buying large amounts, hoping it would go to $1.00.
Sure, buy it if you don’t mind a volatile altcoin/meme coin driven by the media. Most notably, the Dogefather himself, Elon Musk. Whenever he farts, DOGE pumps.
Consider this, to reach $1 per coin, it would have to 10x with a circulating supply of 132,670,764,300 coins and no maximum supply.
That would take a lot more than Musk saying, “If there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”
So, after that Tweet, look at this daily chart for DOGE.

An unavailable max supply means they can decide to “print” more anytime. If you understand “supply and demand,” that could dramatically affect the price.
However, it could be a day-traders dream if you don’t mind the risk. Never mind charts — just watch Twitter consistently.

This Tweet will put DOGE into perspective for you.
Remember to DYOR because these people are considering the all-time price. Likely some weeks would be included before DOGE was even listed.

My next suggestion to consider is a promising altcoin with a strong community, VeChain (VET). When you hear the YouTube “gurus” talking about a 2-cent cryptocurrency that could 100x, VET is it.

Many CHZ HODLers hoped the World Cup would provide a pump for this sports-oriented altcoin. So far, that has not happened, though the timing is terrible considering the “crypto winter.”

Ziliqa (ZIL) is #91 on Coin Market Cap
ZIL has been an extremely volatile altcoin. Its initial coin offering (ICO) was 14 cents when it raised $22,000,000. It is now well below that price at two cents. However, it has an active community and could pump well above its all-time high of 25 cents in MAR ’20 during the next bull run.
This is another altcoin that could do well for day traders as it is only two cents per coin and very volatile.

My Final Thoughts & Recommendations
I am not a financial advisor. I recommend you, DYOR, never use money you can’t afford to lose when you invest, and never leave your altcoins on an exchange.
I own four of the five coins listed here, but I chose Ripple’s XRP instead of XLM as they serve similar purposes. I didn’t write about XRP here because it doesn’t fit the model I was writing about. I still believe it is a worthwhile coin to buy-and-hold, even though there are only a few exchanges you can purchase it.
It could be worthwhile if you can afford $50 to invest in each of these coins. Maybe with a holiday bonus or something.
