Capitals and FTX Launch Blue W Series and Crypto Canines NFT Collections

The Washington Capitals and FTX, a leading US-regulated cryptocurrency exchange, announced today the debut of the Blue W Series and Crypto Canines, two individual NFT Collections that will be available to fans in mid-April.

The Blue W Series Collection, which will be available April 10, is inspired by the Capitals blue W third jersey, which debuted during the 2020-21 season and will be worn through the 2022-23 season. The “W” stands alone as a capital letter to symbolize the strength of the nation’s Capital, with the Washington Monument structure peaking in the middle of the W. The Blue W series is an extension of the three stars on the jersey, which represent Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Each collectible has unique elements symbolizing characteristics of the Washington, D.C., region.

A total of 16 of the Blue W Series collection will be available at WashCaps.com/NFT beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 10 through 10 p.m. on Friday, April 22. The Capitals host the Boston Bruins at Capital One Arena on April 10 and will wear the Blue W jersey during the game.

15 of the Blue Series NFTs will be available for purchase at $499 each and paired with a 2021-22 Capitals team signed jersey. There are 5 Washington, D.C.-themed NFTs, 5 Maryland-themed NFTs and 5 Virginia-themed NFTs available. In addition, one DMV NFT representing all 3 states will be available at auction. The DMV NFT features a trip to a Capitals away game, including two tickets and hotel and airfare.

The second collection, available April 12, compliments the Blue W Series drop by featuring dogs and a cat in the Blue W jersey. Crypto Canines features eight unique dog breeds. One cat rounds out the collection. Capitals and America’s VetDogs service dog in training Biscuit is featured in the collection, with 20% of proceeds from the sale of the Biscuit NFT benefitting America’s VetDogs.

A total of 2,022 of the Crypto Canine collection will be available for purchase at WashCaps.com/NFT beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12 through 10 p.m. on Friday, April 22. There are three tiers: 3 Common Dawgs, with 526 of each available, 3 Rare Dawgs, with 114 of each available, and 3 Legendary Dawgs – featuring 2 dog and 1 cat – with 50 of each available. Fans can purchase a single Crypto Canine at $49 and will unpack to reveal which randomly selected Dawg they have received. Fans can buy as many as they would like, but the collection has limited quantities. One Biscuit NFT will be available at auction, featuring four tickets to a future Capitals game and meet and greet with Biscuit. 20% of the auction proceeds will benefit America’s VetDogs.

The Capitals April 12 game against the Philadelphia Flyers marks NFT Night presented by FTX. The NFT artwork from both series will be displayed on digital boards throughout the arena. There will also be a photo booth featuring NFT artwork on the 100-level concourse and a Crypto Zone in front of section 103/104.
