Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin left it all on the field during a recent interview with Time, in which he argued that cryptocurrency as a whole has “dystopian potential” if improperly implemented.
The interview, in which Buterin put particular emphasis on NFTs, even caught the attention of Tom Brady, and thereby introduced Buterin to…Brady.
Discussing the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, which includes NFTs valued in the millions, Buterin referred to NFTs as a “different kind of gambling.”

I’m Katherine Ross and this is what cryptocurrency investors are watching on Monday, March 21.
The co-founder of Ethereum has a crypto concern. Well, more than one if you read through the extensive interview he did with Time. Buterin said that crypto as a whole has “dystopian potential” if implemented wrong.
He spoke out against NFTs as well, specifically speaking about his concerns around the flashy wealth within crypto and how that impacts spaces such as NFTs. When discussing Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, which can be valued in the millions, he said that it’s a “different kind of gambling.”
But it’s not all negative, Buterin still maintains hope that ETH will become the launchpad for sociopolitical experimentation, despite the current public perception
