Families complain of nudity, drugs and constant parties at Belfast’s ‘Air BnB from hell’

Families living beside an “Air BnB from hell” have said they have had to deal with months of problems including suspected drug use, nudity, loud parties and people urinating outside.

The North Belfast property has been operating as an Air BnB since at least March of this year and since then neighbours have complained of constant issues with anti-social behaviour.

Speaking to Belfast Live, one frustrated dad of three young children said that residents have made numerous complaints to the owners, Belfast City Council and police regarding the issues at the property and that nothing has been done to deal with them.

He said: “Since this property started operating as an Air BnB we have had nothing but problems due to the constant partying and anti-social behaviour that is taking place.

“There have been times where there have been parties with more than 30 people with music so loud that you can hear it all over the street.

“We have also had to deal with people taking drugs outside the property and giving us abuse when we ask them to leave, along with people going to the toilet outside when my children are playing and people walking about outside naked.

“This is a street that is full of families who are just trying to get on with their lives, but this property is giving us nothing but hell and we are at our wits end trying to have the problems resolved.

“We have contacted the owners on multiple occasions, the council and police have even attended the property, but still the issues keep happening and it is not fair on everyone else living here.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are aware of recent anti-social behaviour issues at a property in the area of North Belfast.

“We understand the negative impact that this type of activity can have on local communities and would appeal to anyone affected to report anti-social activity to ensure a police response.

“Patrols will continue in the area to deter further activity of this nature and we will also continue to liaise with partner agencies.

A Belfast City Council spokesperson said: “Belfast City Council cannot comment on specific individuals or properties

“The Council continues to work in partnership with the PSNI and other statutory agencies to tackle and address concerns around anti-social behaviour and noise which impacts residents in the city. The Council runs a night time noise response service 7 days a week between the hours of 8PM and 4am. Officers can be contacted on 02890 373006.”

The owners of the Air BnB have been contacted for comment.
