Kuwait’s Talabat Mart Delivery Service Expands

Good news came this week for residents of Assiut, Zagazig, Ismailia and Port Said who have been seeking a food delivery service. Talabat Mart, the online company that promises 20-minute deliveries, announced it has expanded to those regions.

The company said it uses exclusive order, dispatch and fulfillment technology that was crafted for retailers. Fueled by dark-stores — the term used to describe a retailer or distribution center that caters exclusively to online shoppers — the service relies on real-time inventory management, high-speed orders and proficient delivery operations to minimize delivery times.

Deliveroo Adds Italy to its Fast Delivery Service

Not to be outdone, London-based online food delivery company Deliveroo has selected Italy to be the first country in continental Europe to launch its new ultra-quick delivery service. The service operates in more than 200 cities in Europe, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and Kuwait.

The company said it is collaborating with Carrefour Italia, a supermarket chain, to launch Deliveroo Hop. The new service allows customers to order groceries online and receive them at home in 10 minutes. Deliveroo said the feature combines grocery technology with Carrefour’s international selection of products and brands.

Gorillas Brings Retail Partnership With Tesco to Manchester, England

Meanwhile, Gorillas, the German on-demand grocery delivery company that promises 10-minute delivery, announced it has joined with retail giant Tesco to expand its services in Manchester, the most-populous city in northwest England.

Gorillas will now be able to deliver Tesco goods in minutes to more consumers in Manchester via the Gorillas app. By collaborating with Tesco, Gorillas said it access valuable regional retail space at a network of stores across the United Kingdom.

Gopuff Delivers to France

Gopuff, the United States-based fast grocery delivery startup, is taking on competitors in Europe with its debut in France.

Residents of Paris, most of Île-de-France, and sections of Marseille, Lille and Toulouse, will all be able to place orders through Gopuff’s app.

Not to be left behind, Uber launched plans to expand its German delivery service to 70 cities by the end of 2022, the company said. The ride-sharing platform has been in 14 German cities.

Eve Henrikson, Uber’s general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said its experience in Germany thas given the company confidence to expand.

In the meantime, as the war in Ukraine continues, Uber and Bolt, the Estonian mobility company that offers vehicle for hire, micromobility, car-sharing, and food delivery services, have cut ties with Russian companies.

In a statement to Politico, Uber said it will seek  “opportunities to accelerate the sale” of its stake in Yandex, citing “recent events” as the cause of its decision. Bolt told the news outlet that it would suspend its operations in Belarus.
