NFT Worlds Node Sale Sparks Minecraft Crypto Project Rebrand

After Minecraft banned non-fungible tokens (NFTs), NFT Worlds, a project heavily reliant on Minecraft’s support, faced significant setbacks. 

Rebranded as Hychain Games, the developers of the crypto game Hytopia are launching a node sale for Hychain, the game’s Layer 2 blockchain, based on Arbitrum’s Orbit technology.

Hytopia, a free-to-play game reminiscent of Minecraft, is set to release a beta version exclusively to invited players by the end of the first quarter. Hychain Games stated that over 1 million players have pre-registered for the beta. 

The company expressed its vision of revolutionizing the Minecraft experience with blockchain technology through Hytopia. Compared to Minecraft, Hytopia aims to introduce player-driven economies and genuine ownership of in-game assets by leveraging web3 functionality.

The developers of Hytopia aim for the Hychain node sale to act as a call to the worldwide gaming community, encouraging them to participate in maintaining and securing Hytopia’s network while earning rewards in return.

Hychain Games has announced that the node sale will be conducted in five phases, with the initial four phases being open only to whitelisted members.

NFT Worlds encountered difficulties in 2022 when Mojang Studios, the developers of Minecraft, prohibited NFT integrations. NFT Worlds had built its NFT-powered metaverse on Minecraft’s source code. At its peak, NFT Worlds’ NFTs generated tens of millions of dollars in transaction revenue, as reported.
