CITY COUNCILS
CARLSBAD
The Carlsbad City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a hearing on zoning ordinances enabling programs of the Housing Element on alternative housing and temporary housing to alleviate homelessness; and encouraging development of accessory and junior accessory dwelling units. The city will also hear a budget report, and will consider a policy on flying commemorative flags at City Hall.
DEL MAR
Del Mar is recruiting volunteers to serve on advisory committees and a legislative board. For details and applications, visit delmar.ca.us/347/committee-vacancies. These seats are open: Design Review Board, two nonvoting members; Design Review Board, one voting member; Planning Commission, two voting members. Application deadline, 4:30 p.m. Friday.
ENCINITAS
The Encinitas City Council will meet in special session at 4 p.m. Wednesday to review the city manager’s proposed 2023-24 operating and capital budgets. At 6 p.m., the council will hold a hearing on Parks and Recreation user fee adjustments.
ESCONDIDO
The Escondido City Council will meet in closed session at 4 p.m. Wednesday to discuss labor negotiations, property negotiations and litigation. In open session at 5 p.m., the council will discuss priorities for spending 2023-24 Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds. The city will not receive a federal Emergency Solutions Grant for 2023-2024, and the community needs listed in the ESD report are larger than the annual funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The council will also discuss a zoning change from office to urban at 855 Brotherton Road; an amendment to the operating agreement for the Reidy Creek Golf Course; and the proposed 2023-24 five-year capital improvement program and budget.
SAN MARCOS
The San Marcos City Council will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss labor negotiations. In open session at 6 p.m., the council will consider a budget transfer of $450,000 to create a multi-year electric vehicle charger grant program project.
SOLANA BEACH
The Solana Beach City Council will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. Wednesday to discuss labor negotiations and personnel. In open session at 6 p.m., the council will review its short term vacation rentals ordinance.
VISTA
The Vista City Council will meet in closed session at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss property negotiations. In open session at 5:30 p.m., the council will review fees and policies for recreation and community services programs. The council will also hear its third-quarter financial report and a report on its draft 2023-24 and 2024-25 budgets.
SCHOOL DISTRICTS
DEL MAR
The Del Mar Union School District board is scheduled to meet at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
ENCINITAS
The Encinitas Union School District board will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday to interview prospective trustees for a vacant seat, and to make an appointment. The board will also meet in closed session at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss personnel. In open session at 6 p.m., the board will hear an update on the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan, and will review bargaining proposals and agreements with Classified of Encinitas and other employee groups.
ESCONDIDO
The Escondido Union School District board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The Escondido Union High School District board will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday The district is also seeking public input on the search for a new superintendent. A public forum will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at 302 N. Midway Drive. No appointment is necessary to participate. FALLBROOK
The Fallbrook Union High School District board will meet in closed session at 4:30 p.m. Monday to discuss litigation and labor negotiations. In open session at 5:30 p.m., the board will review a declaration that the Fallbrook High School Solar Carport Project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act, and decide whether to carry out the project. The board will also consider two new courses, Introduction to Forensics and Introduction to Marine Biology.
