Roblox Users Can Now Buy In-Game Items With XRP

Los Angeles-based Xsolla, founded in 2005, provides payment and commerce solutions tailored for video game developers and publishers. The company manages in-game transactions for Roblox across platforms like Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Xbox and PlayStation.

In Q1 2023 alone, Roblox users spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases. The addition of XRP payments allows users seamless integration with their crypto wallets to access funds for these purchases.

According to an October 17th announcement from BitPay, Xsolla has integrated BitPay’s crypto payment processing system into its Pay Station platform. This enables a smooth connection between user crypto wallets and the games.

The Xsolla-BitPay collaboration has its roots in 2014 when Xsolla first began accepting Bitcoin payments through BitPay. Over the years, BitPay has continued expanding its crypto payment options, now supporting 16 major digital currencies.

In August 2023, BitPay introduced global support for XRP after Ripple’s legal victory brought regulatory clarity for the controversial crypto. The upgrade allows BitPay wallet users to buy, sell and store XRP securely.

For Xsolla, this is part of an ongoing effort to make cryptocurrencies a viable payment method within gaming. The company has partnered with other crypto platforms like Coinchange Financial and Crypto.com to integrate NFT and token transactions.
