Solana Beach schools trustee named vice president of state association

Dr. Debra Schade, president of the Solana Beach School District Board of Education, was elected vice president of the California School Boards Association by delegates at the organization’s annual convention in San Francisco.

As vice president of the statewide organization, the Solana Beach resident will serve and support the CSBA’s mission, vision, and equity platform with the ultimate goal of providing equitable education and well-being to California’s 5.5 million public school students, according to a news release.

“I believe in the transformative power of public education and am passionate about safeguarding this invaluable democratic institution,” said Schade in the news release. “As vice president, I pledge to ensure the CSBA remains a mission driven organization that has a direct impact on quality public education for all California students.”

Schade has served the Solana Beach community as a school board trustee for 21 years. She has been involved with the CSBA’s leadership for the past eight years, representing San Diego County school districts as a delegate and regional director, as well as earning her Masters in Governance certification.

“Congratulations to Dr. Schade on being elected Vice President of CSBA,” said Superintendent Jodee Brentlinger in the news release. “Dr. Schade’s unwavering dedication to SBSD students has earned her this well-deserved recognition that will transcend beyond our district, reaching students across the entire state of California.”
