Solana Prices Break Through $100, Climbing 30% In A Week

Solana prices surpassed $100 recently, breaking through this psychologically important level as the cryptocurrency extended its recent gains.

The cryptocurrency, which traders under the SOL ticker, reached $103.53 around 9:45 p.m. EST last night, CoinMarketCap figures show.

At this point, it had climbed more than 8% in less than 24 hours and had rallied over 30% since falling below $80 earlier this month, additional CoinMarketCap figures reveal.

Now that that Solana has exceeded the $100 level, several analysts weighed in on the key levels of support and resistance that technical traders should watch out for next.

William Noble, who currently serves as Director of Research and Content Development for Emerging Assets Group, weighed in on the situation.

“$100 is an even number. That doesn’t mean it is automatically meaningful as a resistance point,” he stated.

“SOL has managed to get through the $100 level because there is a growing realization that a large amount of bitcoin and Solana may need to be bought by bitcoin ETF players and crypto hedge funds,” said Noble.

“Said another way, if SOL is above $100, the next two big resistance points are $110 and $175,” he clarified.

“After this month-long consolidation, traders seem to have already forgotten how fast SOL can move when it trends up.”

Grant Tungate, Senior Analyst of Systematic Trading for Blockforce Capital, also offered some input on the situation.

“Solana has been forming a flag pattern over the last month and today’s move is an initial breakout,” he stated. The chart below illustrates the pattern he described.

“We want to see this confirmed with a daily close,” said Tungate. “If we get the confirmed breakout, we expect a trend high over the coming weeks with the next major level to watch is at ~$126, a retest of the high made on December 25th 2023.”

“The flag pattern breakout comes after a hammer candle at a major support level at ~$79 that occured last Tuesday Jan. 24th,” he stated, referencing the intramonth low that solana reached within the last week.

“The 1 month pull back, and consolidation has cooled RSI from an overbought level at ~84 to a more neutral level at 58 as of today,” the analyst noted.

“Zooming out, Solana has a long way back to all time highs ~155% higher at ~$267,” said Tungate.

“The other major level we are watching if the rally resumes, is a resistance zone ~$144 which was the high in April 22′. If this pattern fails to play out, we are watching for a retest of last week’s low, with potential to test the 100d moving average at around $72.50 if price breaks further.”

“The price action looks healthy, and given the setup we believe that near term it is probable SOL moves higher,” he concluded.
