The Philippines Department of Health Twitter hacked, to promote crypto

With the rise of digital technology, cyber-attacks have become a growing concern for organizations worldwide. The recent case or victim was the Philippines Department of Health which was hit by a cyber-attack that gained unauthorized access to their official Twitter account. 

What Happened to the DOH?

On a recent date, the official Twitter account of the Philippines Department of Health was breached by unknown hackers. The attackers managed to gain access to the account and promote a message that read, “eth should honestly pump to $4000 by next month.” The message suggested that its value of the second largest cryptocurrency ether would rise significantly in the coming weeks.

The tweet is still visible on the Department of Health’s Twitter account at the time of writing. The department has confirmed that they have regained control of the account and reverted it back to its original name after being briefly renamed “Vela Exchange” by the hackers.
