WATCH: Japanese Man Who Spent Thousands Transforming Into a Dog Meets Canine IRL

The Japanese man who spent nearly $15,000 to look like a dog recently came face-to-face with a real-life canine while wearing his hyperrealistic collie costume.

On all fours and inside his full-body suit, Toco tried to gently approach a skeptical Shiba Inu, but he ultimately failed to fool the confused canine.

Instead of playing with him, the Inu repeatedly barked in his direction before eventually wandering away.

Toco, who chronicles his dog impersonation adventures on a YouTube channel called “I Want to Be an Animal,” swears he does not want to live out his life as a dog.

Instead, he said dressing up as a realistic dog is simply his leisure activity.

“This is my hobby, so I will carry on,” he told the New York Post in August. “It makes me happy and other people happy, too.”

His latest video, which includes the Inu encounter, shows him practicing “agility” inside what appears to be a dog park.

He at one point attempts to climb a steep ramp, but instead of making it to the top, he simply flails over onto his stomach.

Elsewhere in the video, he tries hopping over a hurdle, but failing to clear it, he accidentally knocks it over and collapses onto the ground.

Toco’s unorthodox hobby is paying off: His doggie exploits have garnered international media attention, and he has so far accrued nearly 61,000 subscribers on YouTube.
