- Mabel’s, a Solana Beach boutique selling women’s and children’s clothing, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in business. Located at 136 S. Cedros Ave., Mabel’s was opened by three Solana Beach sisters, Leah Cassidy, Lisa Ketcham and Colleen Morgans in 1997. The boutique is hosting a celebration on April 21-23 with special giveaways, discounts, raffles and trunk shows for customers. (Del Mar Times)
- An inmate at San Diego Central Jail died on April 11, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The adult male was reportedly having chest pain and shortness of breath and was waiting to be transported to the hospital. He went into medical distress and was administered CPR, but at the hospital he was pronounced dead. The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. (Press Release Desk)
- The Aztecs men’s golf team at San Diego State University moved to third place at the 75th annual Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, which was suspended due to a windy day that caused long delays. Rancho Bernardo High School graduates Zihao Jin and Steve Sugimoto competed. The Aztecs play next against Texas, Pepperdine and Washington universities. (SDSU)
