Silvestro “Silvio” Gliottone, 93, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 3, 2021.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Simeone) Gliottone. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alessandro and Antonia (Bianco) Gliottone. Silvio was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Silvio worked for the Department of Transportation for the State of RI for many years before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Providence. Silvio enjoyed working on cars, gardening, landscaping and was an avid Red Sox fan and coin collector.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Jane M. Delamare and her husband Robert of Providence, and Ann Marie Achille of Cranston; cherished granddaughters Joanna M. Achille, Esq. and Brianna J. Delamare, OMS III. Silvio was the brother of the late Viola Caruso, Paul Gliottone, Anna Antonelli, Josephine “Tina” Gliottone and Marlene Paglia. Silvio was committed to caring for his family and was always willing to extend a helping hand.
Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Bartholomew Church, Providence.
Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 am.
