A seemingly-simple house from the outside that contains a host of interior decorations leaning toward a theme of cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFT) has hit the market for $1.2 million.
The social media account Zillow Gone Wild, known for posting images of interesting houses for sale, posted images of the North Hollywood, California, house on its accounts across various platforms, including Instagram where it was liked more than 25,000 times.
According to Forbes, NFTs have been around since 2014, but have recently skyrocketed in popularity.
“An NFT is a digital asset that can come in the form of art, music, in-game items, videos and more,” the piece published by Forbes said. “They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.”
The outlet said cryptocurrency is “decentralized digital money.”
“Unlike the U.S. Dollar or the Euro, there is no central authority that manages and maintains the value of a cryptocurrency,” Forbes said. “Instead, these tasks are broadly distributed among a cryptocurrency’s users via the internet.”
The photos of the house show a modest exterior, but portraits from the Bored Ape Yacht Club, wallpaper of tweets and images of the Bitcoin symbol were featured inside.
Commenters on Instagram did not hesitate to take their thoughts to the comments section.
“Live Laugh Love: Crypto Bro edition,” an Instagram user wrote.
“It looks like it was meant to be used for a reality tv show,” another user suggested.
“I don’t have any money for it but will they accept NFTs,” an Instagram user joked.
Elle Levy, the owner of the house, told Newsweek that she just put the house on the market about two weeks ago, and its primary function was to serve as an Airbnb.
Levy said she got into cryptocurrency in 2017, which served as inspiration for the theme of the interior. It took about six months to a year to renovate the inside of the house to fit the theme.
Though it’s currently on the market, Levy said the house is still available to book through Airbnb until it is sold.
“The whole reason behind it was for people to have a place where they can shoot cool content in [Los Angeles],” Levy said.
She added that she plans to open short-term rentals across the country with different themes for people to experience and to have “amazing content for their social media.”
While Levy said this house served her well and was a hit among renters, she said she is putting it on the market due to trouble with neighbors.
However, this is not the end of the Crypto House—she said she plans to relocate it.
“I’m not closing the chapter on Crypto House, per se,” Levy said. “Just at that location.”
Other posts shared by Zillow Gone Wild have also gone viral, including a listing for a “literal tree house,” a house that featured a cameo from Halloween movie villain Michael Myers and a house that appears to have a first-class Delta airport lounge inside.
