Jewel Edson, a Solana Beach city councilwoman, has been named to the board of a rail agency spanning territory from Central California to San Diego, it was announced Thursday.
Edson will serve as vice chair of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency board for 2022.
Edson was elected to her second term on the City Council in 2020. In addition, she serves on the board of directors for the North County Transit District and the San Diego Association of Governments.
Edson and Chairman Gregg Hart, a Santa Barbara County supervisor, will guide the board and provide oversight for initiatives outlined in LOSSAN’s annual business plan for fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The plan “identifies the LOSSAN Agency’s major goals and objectives for management of the Pacific Surfliner intercity rail service, as well as the budget necessary to administer, promote and operate the service,” a statement from the agency said.
LOSSAN is governed by an 11-member board composed of officials representing rail owners, operators and planning agencies along the rail corridor between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.
