The Culinary Historians of San Diego will present Treasures of the Past: Lost Restaurants of San Diego with Martin S. Lindsay.
The Howls and Kut U Up
Encinitas bands The Howls and Kut U Up(pictured) take the stage at Belly Up.
Formed in early 2008, the debut EP from The Howls was reportedly self-recorded in a cold North County warehouse in the middle of the night, and at the downtown Encinitas home of singer-guitarist John Cooper. Their music has been heard on the TV show Sons Of Anarchy. Encinitas punk band Kut U Up were the subject of the 45-minute video titled Riding in Cars with Boys with Blink 182 and Green Day, which aired on MTV when it was released in 2003.

They’ve gone through around a dozen members, with the group still anchored by founding bassist Marcel “Schmier” Schirmer (who later also took over lead vocals). Brazilian thrash metal band Nervosa, formed in 2010, only sports one founding member, guitarist Prika Amaral. They’re touring in support of their most recent full-length, Perpetual Chaos.
