The Three Trails boutique hotel officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Oct. 27. The former Yadkin Valley bank building, located at 101 W. Main St. in Elkin, has been renovated and converted to a 14-unit hotel. Units at Three Trails range from a one-bedroom studio to a three-bedroom. Each rental unit features a kitchen, living area and bedrooms.
“It’s essentially like a home away from home,” said property owner Stephen Hetherington.
Guests at the ribbon cutting enjoyed a spread of snacks from Liberty Catering Company and had the chance to tour several of the rooms at Three Trails as well as its rooftop deck.
Hetherington said they were excited to be in Elkin and were grateful for the positive response from the community.
“The moment we came here, we’ve just been welcomed and it’s so easy to work on a project when you’re welcomed,” said Hetherington.
“I just want to say thank you and I hope you guys enjoy the property today and for many more days and nights,” he told the crowd gathered for the ribbon cutting.
The hotel derives its name as Elkin is the convergence of three trails, the N.C. Mountains to Sea Trail, the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, and the Yadkin River Paddle Trail. Hetherington said the project’s architect came up with the name and it stuck.
Three Trails rooms can be found for rent on VRBO and Air BnB.
