The XRP Ledger wallet, Xumm, provides an urgent alert to its Samsung users. In a new tweet, the XRPL wallet mentioned getting reports from Samsung Xumm users, specifically Samsung Galaxy S21 users.
It was discovered that the Samsung operating system update released on Oct. 12 damaged the Xumm Wallet secure data store, resulting in Xumm not opening again once the update was applied.
In light of this, Xumm Wallet urges users not to install the Samsung update on their Galaxy S21 devices.
Before applying the update, Xumm advises Samsung users to check if they have their secret key. This is because, after installing the Samsung update, users may have to uninstall Xumm, reinstall Xumm and import their account with their secret key again.
If the secret (numbers) are written down, users could import them again. If uncertainty remains as to the correctness of the keys, they should make sure to rekey their accounts before installing the Samsung update.
Xumm clarifies that there is no security risk, only an issue with the Samsung update, which rendered the Xumm Secure Datastore inaccessible after.
The Xumm Support xApp should be a point of contact if help is needed in this scenario, with the wallet warning users never to trust social media support.
Meanwhile, in a remarkable milestone, XRPL developer Witese Wind shares that Xumm has onboarded its first user in Antarctica.
Xumm teases an impending Xumm 2.6 release, where new features reflecting the wallet’s rebranding will be added.
